Arrival of Baby Kennzo Chia

23 April 08

0800hrs
Woke up and had a gush of water rushing out. I thought I had peed and went to the toilet to check. To my horror, it was some transparent liquid with slight blood stains on it.

I felt that it should not happen now especially I am just in week 34 and going to 35 the next day. Anyway just login and wrote mails out to standby my boss and the team that I am having signs of labour.

According to Darren, this is the mucus plug and if this is out I can be delivering anytime from now or even weeks later.
Called Claudia and she asked me to go and see Chris at 2pm since he is having surgery before that. She called me back and asked me to go in at 11.30am instead as Chris would have done with the first surgery in the morning.

Sam decided to bring Adel to CC later but I felt that she should go earlier and wanted to drive her there myself. In the end, he sent her to school and came back to sleep for another few more hours. Mummy busy in forum as well as sending emails.
Had a shower and grabbed my hospital bag and off we go to Chris’s clinic around 11am.

1145hrs
Chris only came back at this timing. Checked me and said that I am 1cm dilated already, waterbag seems to be leaking and from scan, water level is lower than the check on Saturday. I have to be admitted to prepare for labour at least for another 24hrs so that they can administered 2 jabs for me to boost Kennzo’s lungs (he would be a premie).
He was not very happy about this early delivery as things were very much on schedule and no abnormalities that I would deliver early.

Proceed to admit myself and then headed back to office to tidy up things before going back to Gleneagles again.
Having bearable contractions after Chris done VE starting from 12 noon..

1330hrs
I was sent to my ward and then they started to change me into the hospital gown and strapped me for CTG.
Contractions was going at about 5 minutes.
Jab administered at around 1400hrs on my thigh.

Contractions was going at about 3 minutes at 1430hrs
I was prepared to be pushed to delivery suite any moment from 1445hrs.

Delivery Suite, Stage 1 Area
The contractions were still bearable for a rating of about 6.Claudia came up with another patient who experienced the same thing as me, except she is now in week 37. She told me I can request for painkiller jab on my thigh. I am hesitating between that and laughing gas. In the end, I opted for laughing gas since still within my bearable ratings of pain threshold.

It was until 1530hrs that I told Sam I want the jab. He went to look for the nurse and told them about it. Midwife checked VE and told us too late, already about 8cm dilation or full (not sure). They just got to act fast and prepare a delivery suite for me to adjourn to. While moving from the waiting area, another contraction hit and I can feel baby approaching birth canal. I just told them I cannot wait anymore. They quickly mobilise PD and Chris to the suite.
Once inside delivery suite, I cannot move myself over to the bed as the contraction was fast and furious. Any movement from me, I would want to push already.
They just ask me to wait and take deep breathe while waiting for Chris to come up from his clinic. Sam gave me the laughing gas. It only makes me losing consciousness that soon I was not grabbing his hand and releasing it slowly.
Gosh, I am glad I am at Gleneagles otherwise I would be delivered by the midwives instead. The moment he stepped in I am all ready to push.
Everything happened too fast. I thought I just gave about 5 pushes and Kennzo is out to greet the world.

We are proud to announce the arrival of our 2nd child, Prince Kennzo Chia.
